i have decided to take a rather direct way to share my news. some may find it interesting, some may think it silly, but for all my intentions, i would like to let other folk know that sometimes, following the legal route and expecting everything to be ok doesnt always happen.
i am devastated to discover that here in scotland, in the western isles, there is no 'map based register' of crofts. there is area based, which tells you how much land you have, but as to where, well, that is down to peoples 'memories' and if they cant, (or refuse to) remember, you have landed yourself in one pile of trouble.
this can all be verified by speaking to the Scottish Crofting Federation, they seem the most honest and straightforward group of people who will actually tell you the way the scottish system works re purchasing the tenancy of a croft.
